Turmeric

Turmeric has a complex flavor including sour, bitter, warm and musky. A standard in Indian cuisine and Ayurvedic medicine. Called “the golden spice” or the “spice of life” during the Vedic period (1500BC – 500BCE) in India. Turmeric is considered essential to curry blends adding both flavor and color. Wonderful for vegetarian dishes, especially those with beans and lentils. A member of the ginger family.
